Michael C. Lawrence, Of Counsel to the Firm, has practiced civil litigation
since 1992. His practice focuses on civil litigation on the behalf of businesses
and individuals. He has maintained an active trial practice in both State and
Federal Court, and he has successfully pursued and defended claims on behalf
of clients throughout Texas. A sampling of his experience includes:
- Over 20 civil jury trials involving contract disputes, motor vehicle accidents,
personal injury, product liability, workers compensation, motor carrier liability,
insurance defense, and first party insurance coverage litigation.
- Obtained a defense verdict for a national insurance company in which the plaintiffs
were seeking $100 million in damages.
- Obtained a $500,000 settlement for a Dallas business after the insurance company
denied coverage.
- Extensive transactional experience involving contract interpretation and drafting,
including a specific emphasis on insurance coverage involving professional liability,
commercial general liability, property and casualty, directors and officers,
workers compensation, and insurance code and regulations.
- Representation of corporate businesses and insurance companies in common law
and statutory claims (plaintiff and defendant).
Mr. Lawrence received his law degree in 1992 from the University of Arizona
College of Law and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University
in 1988. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Arizona Journal of International
and Comparative Law from 1991-1992. In 2005, he was named a “Texas
Super Lawyer Rising Star” in the Texas Super Lawyer edition of Texas
Monthly and Law & Politics magazines. In 2003, he earned his
Board Certification in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal
Specialization.
Mr. Lawrence is admitted to practice in the State of Texas, the United States
Supreme Court, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District
Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas.
He is a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.
